MY GOLF BLUEPRINT
Ready Golf and the honor on the tee
Rule 6.4 and 5.6 · Official source checked 6 November 2026
Safe, responsible Ready Golf is encouraged in stroke play. Match play gives order of play a different role, so agree any particular out-of-turn stroke only within the rules.
On the course
- Be ready while others play when safe.
- Check that your shot will not distract or endanger someone.
- Understand who has the honor in your format.
- Move promptly after the shot.
Worked situation
In stroke play, a ready player may play out of turn to save time when safe. In match play, an opponent may have the right to cancel an out-of-turn stroke.
Important distinction
Do not confuse pace with rushing or playing toward a group within range. An agreement to play out of turn to give an advantage is not ordinary Ready Golf.
