MY GOLF BLUEPRINT
Golf etiquette: safety, pace and care
Good etiquette makes the course safer and easier to share. It includes being ready, respecting other players and repairing damage according to the course's guidance.
Work through it
- Wait until people are safely beyond your possible shot range.
- Stand still and quiet when another player is addressing a ball.
- Prepare your club choice while others play when it is safe.
- Repair pitch marks, rake bunkers and follow the course's divot instructions.
- Record scores away from the green when practical.
A practical example
Calling “Fore!” promptly is more useful than waiting to see whether a stray ball reaches someone. Direction can help, but the warning must be immediate.
Practice task
Before the next round, choose three habits: watch every ball land, carry a repair tool and leave the green promptly. Ask a course employee to demonstrate local repair practices.
Common mistakes
Do not confuse fast play with hitting toward someone. Do not drag a trolley through a bunker or over a green. Avoid stepping on another player's putting line.
Choose a comfortable movement and change one variable at a time. Stop if a movement causes pain; a qualified coach can adapt the task to your mobility and experience.
