Weight transfer: move without swaying

Weight transfer describes changes in body support during the swing, but visible movement and measured foot pressure are not the same thing. Balance is a useful first check.

Work through it

  1. Make a slow rehearsal and notice which foot supports you at different stages.
  2. Keep movement within a comfortable range.
  3. Finish with stable support instead of falling sideways.
  4. Use video with a coach if you cannot distinguish turning from excessive sway.

A practical example

You can feel more pressure under the lead foot while the body's center has moved much less than you expected.

Practice task

Hit ten short shots and hold the finish for three seconds. Count controlled finishes and centered strikes. Use the observations together rather than treating balance as proof of perfect mechanics.

Common mistakes

Do not force a large sideways slide. Do not copy a pressure-plate percentage without knowing the measurement and timing.

Choose a comfortable movement and change one variable at a time. Stop if a movement causes pain; a qualified coach can adapt the task to your mobility and experience.
