Pull-hook: checks and practice
A pull-hook begins toward the lead side and continues curving that way. It combines a starting-direction issue with curvature.
Possible causes
- Face closed to target and path
- Toe strike with a driver
- A grip or timing change that closes the face
Simple checks
- Check the face and feet against the real target.
- Note the impact position.
- Reduce swing length while retaining a normal balanced motion.
A practice drill
Hit three groups of five short shots. Keep the target unchanged and compare center strikes only when evaluating the face-to-path pattern.
Avoid this trap
Do not aim farther toward the trail side without understanding the curve. That may hide the start error while leaving the hook.
The checks narrow the possibilities; they do not confirm a diagnosis. Keep a record of several shots and ask a qualified coach to connect the pattern to your swing.
