Golf bags: choose how you carry

A bag should suit walking, a push trolley or a cart while keeping equipment accessible. Empty weight matters more if you carry it for a full round.

Before choosing

  1. Test the straps with a realistic load.
  2. Check club dividers and pocket access.
  3. Confirm trolley or cart compatibility.
  4. Allow room for rain gear and water without overloading.

Practical test

Pack the clubs and essentials you actually use, then walk briefly and adjust the straps. Check whether the stand deploys reliably on level ground.

Common mistakes

Do not judge only by the number of pockets. Heavy extras can make a compact bag uncomfortable.

Example

A trolley bag can have useful storage but may be awkward to carry when a course restricts cart access.
