Golf gloves: secure contact without bunching

A glove can help maintain a secure grip, but fit and dry contact matter more than brand. Many golfers wear it on the lead hand; preferences vary.

Before choosing

  1. Try the glove on the hand you use for the lead grip.
  2. Check fingertip length and palm bunching.
  3. Close the fastening without stretching it to its limit.
  4. Keep a dry spare for wet conditions if needed.

Practical test

Hold a club while testing the fit. The glove should not slide or fold beneath the fingers. Compare sizes before assuming the handle needs a change.

Common mistakes

Do not use a damaged or slick glove to compensate for worn grips. Avoid forcing a size that restricts circulation or movement.

Example

Extra material in the palm can make a secure grip feel less stable even when the glove seems comfortable at rest.

Check the manufacturer’s current instructions and specifications for the exact product. This is an educational selection guide, not a hands-on product review.
