MY GOLF BLUEPRINT
Lob wedges: useful height, demanding decisions
A lob wedge offers a high-loft option when a shot needs height and a short rollout. It is one choice, not the default for every shot near a green.
Specifications to compare
- Loft and bounce
- Lie compatibility
- Carry control
- Whether the high shot is actually needed
A useful fitting test
Compare a simple lower shot with the lob wedge from the same practice lie. Keep the high option when it solves an obstacle or landing constraint you can manage.
Trade-offs
Do not choose the highest loft because the flag is close. Poor contact can turn a short shot into another recovery.
Example decision
A high shot over a bunker may justify the club; a clear rolling route may be simpler with a less-lofted wedge.
Before buying
Confirm the exact model, playing side, loft, shaft, length, condition and return terms. Use the manufacturer’s current specification sheet for the actual club. This guide does not claim a product test or a guaranteed result.
