Etiquette and practical course care. Follow local guidance.

Leave the bunker in a condition you would reasonably want to find. Entry, raking and rake placement should follow the course's guidance.

Practical steps

  1. Enter and leave at a suitable low point.
  2. Smooth footprints and the stroke area.
  3. Avoid damaging steep faces or edges.
  4. Place the rake where the course requests.

Example

Rake the route you used as well as the impact area, then leave without walking through the newly smoothed section.

Avoid this

Do not assume all courses want rakes in the same place. Avoid improving conditions for your next stroke while your ball remains in the bunker.
