MY GOLF BLUEPRINT
Find a useful ball position for each club
Ball position influences where the club meets the ball along its arc. A central short-iron position and a more forward driver position are starting points to test, not universal measurements.
Work through it
- Choose a level lie and one club.
- Use a safe visual marker to see where the ball sits between your feet.
- Start near the center with a short iron
- move forward as a sensible driver starting point.
- Keep stance width consistent while comparing small position changes.
A practical example
Moving an iron ball too far forward can make ground contact occur before impact. The same forward placement with a teed driver serves a different task.
Practice task
Hit three groups of five short-iron shots: your normal position, a little forward and a little back. Record turf contact and starting direction. Return to the most repeatable position.
Common mistakes
Do not move the ball repeatedly after every poor shot. A position change can alter both contact and face delivery; fix neither by assumption.
Choose a comfortable movement and change one variable at a time. Stop if a movement causes pain; a qualified coach can adapt the task to your mobility and experience.
