MY GOLF BLUEPRINT
Drivers: choose carry and dispersion together
A driver is the longest-shot option from a tee for many golfers. Head loft, playing length, shaft and strike pattern all affect whether it is useful.
Specifications to compare
- Loft and adjustable settings
- Playing length and total weight
- Face strike pattern
- Carry and left-to-right dispersion
A useful fitting test
Test the same ball and a target corridor across several representative shots. Compare average carry and the ordinary miss, not the single longest drive. Include a shorter playing length if center contact is difficult.
Trade-offs
An adjustable setting changes a club's configuration, not just the golfer's confidence. Have a fitter explain what the setting changes on that specific model.
Example decision
A driver that carries slightly less but keeps your normal pattern away from a penalty area may be the better scoring choice.
Before buying
Confirm the exact model, playing side, loft, shaft, length, condition and return terms. Use the manufacturer’s current specification sheet for the actual club. This guide does not claim a product test or a guaranteed result.
